2025 MJ Volleystart Academy SUMMER CAMPS! The 16th annual Marin Juniors/Volleystart Volleyball Summer Camps!

What: An intensive, fast-paced camp that develops the skills and love needed for the game of Volleyball! Games, contests, prizes, and a bunch of other fun activities with the best coach to player ratio (4-1) of any camp in Marin. Simply Marin’s best volleyball camp for this age group! Led by High School  Hall of Fame Volleyball Coach and Former Championship-winning head coach for UC-Berkeley’s Men's Volleyball team, Kevin Seeley

When and Where: 

  1. Volleystart (Indoor): June 16-20, July 7-11 and July 28-Aug 1: 9:00-3:00.  At “The Block” MJ Facility (440 Smith Ranch Rd, San Rafael). 
  2. MJ Club/Elite Academy Camp (incoming 3rd-5th grade club level players: (players from elite Academy  teams and selected others): @ MJ Facility, “The Block" (440 Smith Ranch Rd, San Rafael),  Aug 11-15 9:00-12:00. 
Who: Incoming 2nd-6th graders (3 levels in total: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced/Elite Academy)

Staff: These popular camps will be led by former Championship winning UC-Berkeley Head Men’s Volleyball Coach, HIgh School Hall of Fame coach, and USA Indoor Professional League coach, Kevin Seeley. He will be assisted by great MJ staff.

Volleystart Summer Camp Daily Outline: 2025

8:50-9:00 Bonus Free Play!

9:00-9:30 Warmups/Volleyball movements

  • 10 minutes of hitting from held balls and tosses using lines

  • Campfire, warmup game, core volleyball movements

9:30-10:00 Ball control and contests: 

  • partners, solo touches, wheel drills, contests, instruction
10:00-10:30 one way queen of court/ 

  • 2 point queen, etc (½ court) using focus skill
10:30-10:45 ½ court head to head games (within your own team)

10:45 Snack

11:00-12:00 Team competition and ½ court matches

12:00-12:15 All stars/announcements/ compliments

12:15-12:45 lunch/free time

12:45-1:15 quiet team time

  • reading /drawing on maps/ writing/team discussions
1:15-1:30 team pilates/yoga/core

1:30-1:45 Dance party/ Player and Coach all-star game

1:45-2:00 Team Performance Popcorn: Each team doing progressive passing drills together on their court in a game-like situation.

2:00-2:55 League matches

-5 on 5 with coach setting or 6 on 6 with 2 coaches playing on each team or speed ball, or 4 on 4 big half court)

-one team on, one team off: scorekeep, shag, initiate balls

(players off: one score, one initiate, one shag, one fill-in)

3:00 DISMISS: All-stars/reminders/announcements

BIO
Bio Kevin Seeley was a standout Outside Hitter in College. After concluding his playing career, He was first a High School Varsity Volleyball Coach in Virginia, winning many championships, was a 4-time Coach of the year, was selected as a Head Coach in the World Scholastic Games for 2001 where he led his team to a Regular Season 1st place finish. In 2002, He was selected to coach in the National High School All-Star Game in Hawaii. He was selected to coach in the World Scholastic games in 2003, but had to decline due to travel. In 2021, He was inducted into that High School's Sports Hall of fame as a Volleyball Coach. In 2002, He became the head coach for Cal's (UC-Berkeley) Men's Volleyball team for 3 years taking them from 4th place to a 1st place conference title his first year there. He had a 2nd place and 3rd place finish in his other 2 years there, before resigning due to the birth of his first child. He was later the Asst coach and Offensive Coordinator for Northern CA's Professional men's Team, "Nor Cal Premier," where they went up against teams with Olympic team members and beat them. He started “Volleystart” when his son was born in 2008 and has enjoyed coaching Volleystart every moment since. In 2023, He returned to College coaching as the Head Coach at the College of Marin and quickly tripled their number of wins and took the team from 7th place to 3rd place in his first year there! He resigned to have more time to watch his son play his last 2 years of Club and High school Volleyball. His Volleystart Program has been the most attended youth volleyball program in Northern California for over 10 years. Kevin also holds a Masters Degree in both Education and Special Education and has had work published in 2 major textbooks and 2 journals.
